Spring 2025 has been a busy season for CODCHANGE project members. In April, project manager Dr. Albert Fernandez Chacon and project partner, Dr. Halvor Knutsen, participated at the OIKOS Conference in Bodø, where they presented the latest research results on survival and temperature tolerance of cod ecotypes in Skagerrak, and in May, CODCHANGE postdoc Martina Martorell Barcelo, and project partner prof. Esben Moland Olsen, have been tagging cod in Skagerrak as part of the ongoing telemetry monitoring of coastal fish species in the area. The first week of May, Martina traveled from Tromsø to the IMR station in Flødevigen (southern Norway) to assist in the fieldwork activities coordinated by Esben. During her time at Flødevigen, Martina visited the study sites in Tvedestrand fjord and was able to capture, tag and release several individuals of Atlantic cod, as well as to collect and measure individuals of other species. The work was done in collaboration with Dr. Inge van der Knaap (IMR) from the Biodiversa+ MOVE project, which also aims at better understanding the spatial behaviour and ecology of coastal predatory fishes. Thank you Martina, Esben and Inge for your work and for keeping this long-term research alive!
